Talia is a valued member of our Testing Clinic Team for the 2026-2027 training year. She is in the second year of her 5 year doctoral program. She will administer many of the tests that you, your child, or your loved one will receive as part of the neuropsychological assessment battery selected by Dr. Hastings, the Clinical Psychologist.
Talia "love[s] to see what people are capable of and help them figure out answers or solutions for their presenting concerns." 
"My priorities as a psychometrist are to make the patient feel comfortable [and to be] flexible when administering assessments." Talia enjoys the process of getting to know patients during the administration process.

What Does a Psychometrist Do?

To help you understand the division of responsibility in the Testing Clinic:
Dr. Hastings, the Licensed Clinical Psychologist, is always in charge, making clinical decisions and diagnoses, interpreting data to determine its meaning, and drawing a map of treatment sequences and options for you and/or your family. However, for her to approach each case with the depth and breadth she requires (she treats each and every case like a dissertation), she relies on her team to gather the initial data.
What does that look like?
  1. The initial intake appointment is scheduled with Dr. Mary Collins, PhD, LCPC, CADC. She is Dr. Hastings' Assistant Director of the Training Clinic. Dr. Collins gathers the broad history, timeline, and other information that Dr. Hastings utilizes to make decisions about the plan of assessment.
  2. On the day of testing, psychometrists (like Talia) essentially operate as x-ray technicians administering the assessments, while Dr. Hastings acts as the radiologist. 
  3. Dr. Hastings then takes all the data the team has acquired, determines what remaining questions she has, and then personally conducts more focused/diagnostic interviewing to determine the puzzle pieces in play and put them together.
  4. Dr. Hastings meets with you for the feedback session, explains her formulation, draws the map of next steps, and discusses any remaining unanswered questions she has (e.g. medical conditions that need to be ruled out).
  5. Dr. Hastings produces the written documentation (e.g. assessment summaries if applicable; reports) and distributes to you and/or anyone you have completed a release of information for (e.g. school, physician, psychiatrist, neurologist, etc.). 
We ask patients and their families if they are comfortable with the psychometrist extern administering the testing (e.g. operating like the X-ray technician; like Talia) attending the intake appointment, interview(s) and feedback session so they can continue learning. This is completely up to the patient/their family and not required. You are welcome to say yes or no to all appointments or some. The most important thing is your comfort.  It will be the same one who administers the testing.
