I’m Nehal and I am so happy to meet you and work with you, if you feel I’m the right fit.
Many of the challenges people face (including little people) happen because they get stuck — stuck in painful emotions, stuck in painful thought patterns, or stuck in cycles of choices that are making it hard to move forward. You might feel ill-equipped to find your way out of the stuckness and find that strategies that used to work aren’t working anymore. You might feel out of your league trying to help your kiddo with feelings or behaviors that you are struggling to understand and are impacting their development.
We’ll find the way to more peace and closeness in your relationships, and in your own mind. You (and/or your kiddo) have value and worth. Your strengths lie in your lived experiences — we’ll find the strengths and use them to help reduce symptoms. We’ll build resilience through the processes of change and help you cultivate flexibility and adaptability in your mind, emotional world, and relationships.
My clinical experience working with children and families lends to using creative and playful techniques mixed with parent training and structure to help parent-child connections. My clinical experience has influenced how I understand the change that happens within people and between people. I treat problems by helping you understand what is happening inside you (or your kiddo) and also helping you understand what is happening between you and the people you love. This means that I think about problems people have systemically.
I strive to really listen attentively to you and/or your child, help you make sense of how you or your child’s symptoms developed, and provide an active, results-oriented approach regardless of which type of pain you or your child are in. We want to treat the symptoms, not only talk about them. I thoughtfully integrate evidence-based treatments to help reduce your symptoms as quickly as possible. I love working adults. I appreciate the diversity of individuals’ insights and reflections as they work through their pain, regardless of the type of pain.
Like all therapists at AMANI, there will also be a lot of skills training to address the weak points in child, parent, and family functioning, particularly parental responses to child emotions, behaviors, struggles, and symptoms. We’ll collaborate and work as a team through your journey to feeling and functioning better.
My clinical range of experience can be described as diverse. I have worked most with people experiencing big crises and problems. I’ve provided crisis services, worked in inpatient psychiatric units, and outpatient behavioral health settings. I’ve also been part of a research team investigating the best services to help adolescent girls who have been sexually exploited.
Give us a call. I’d love to collaborate with you, provide meaningful, respectful support, and use evidence-based approaches to helping you feel and function better. I have completed my Master’s Degree. I am in the final stages of my doctoral degree and am a Supervised Extern therapist with AMANI Clinical Services until July 2026.
